Crypto stamp wins Innovation Award
PostEurop has awarded Liechtensteinische Post the 2021 Innovation Award Runner-Up prize for its crypto stamp based on blockchain technology.
The European postal association PostEurop has awarded the Runner-Up Prize of its Innovation Award to Liechtensteinische Post for its crypto stamp. The stamp with a face value of 5.20 Swiss francs is based on blockchain.
The Liechtensteinische Post based in Schaan has received the Runner-Up Prize of the Innovation Award 2021 from PostEurop. This is the second time the postal service of the Principality of Liechtenstein has been honored by the trade association for European public postal operators based in Brussels, as was reported in a press release. In 2020, Liechtensteinische Post AG was nominated for its SpediFux transport service.
The award-winning “Weitblick” crypto stamp contains an integrated SQR code that can be scanned with a standard smartphone. The associated app enables users to verify the stamps stored on blockchain and check for authenticity in real time. Through this process, the – real and digital – stamp can be clearly assigned to its owner and specified in a personal data room. “The crypto postage stamp is valid for post, forgery-proof and interactive,” informs the Post.
