What is a constitutional hereditary monarchy on a democratic and parliamentary basis?

Share

Liechtenstein’s system of government is unique: on the one hand, it is characterised by the fact that the position of Head of State – that is, the Prince or Princess – is passed down from one generation to the next. The rights of the Head of State are enshrined in the Constitution. On the other hand, the people enjoy extensive democratic rights of participation.
