What is venture philanthropy (VP)?
The approach of engaged philanthropy – also known as venture philanthropy, high-engagement philanthropy or strategic philanthropy – views its activities as social investment in organisations committed to a shared goal. To this end, it draws on methods from the venture capital sector and corporate management. In addition to financial contributions, charitable organisations receive long-term, professional and personal support. The aim is to strengthen the fulfilment of the organisation’s purpose and to complement traditional forms of donation in the long term.
