Yes, Liechtenstein is a sovereign and independent state. The country attained its state sovereignty as early as 1806 upon joining the Confederation of the Rhine. Full sovereignty was attained in 1866 following the dissolution of the German Confederation. Liechtenstein has been a member of the United Nations (UN) since 1990, which further underlines its international recognition. Liechtenstein has its own constitution (a constitutional hereditary monarchy on a democratic-parliamentary basis) and an independent legal system.
