How are foundations supervised in Liechtenstein?
Public supervision is handled differently for charitable and private foundations. Charitable foundations in Liechtenstein are supervised by the Liechtenstein Foundation Supervisory Authority. Private foundations, on the other hand, are not subject to supervision.
Internal monitoring of private-benefit foundations is primarily assigned to the beneficiaries. However, the founder can adjust this internal monitoring in the statutes, for example by appointing a supervisory body, reserving control for themselves by including a right of revocation, or voluntarily placing the private-benefit foundation under the supervision of the Foundation Supervisory Authority.
