What purposes can a foundation have?
A Liechtenstein foundation is a flexible legal instrument that can be used for a variety of purposes and is regulated in the Principality of Liechtenstein by the Law on Persons and Companies (Personen- und Gesellschaftsrecht, PGR).
A Liechtenstein foundation may pursue private purposes (e.g. asset management, inheritance planning, support of family members), charitable purposes (e.g. education, culture, science, charity) or business-related purposes (e.g. shareholdings, continuation of companies). It can also combine mixed purposes.
