What is a trust?
Like the Liechtenstein foundation, the trust in Liechtenstein is a legal instrument primarily designed to protect assets in the long term. The Liechtenstein trust (known as a trusteeship) originates from Anglo-Saxon law. One advantage is that it can be established under foreign law, for example under English or American law.
