The founder determines the purpose of the foundation and the group of beneficiaries. He or she may specify any permitted purpose, combine several purposes and determine whether these are to be pursued simultaneously or successively. The purpose must be specified in the foundation deed. Liechtenstein foundation law is characterised by the principle of founder freedom and thus offers a great deal of flexibility within the framework of the legal possibilities.
