Liechtenstein has been a member of the EEA (European Economic Area) since 1995 – what does this mean?
The EEA Agreement is primarily an economic agreement. Thus, its positive aspects can be seen mainly in the economic sector. For a small, but highly innovative national economy like Liechtenstein’s, legally secured access to the European Single Market, with its over 440 million consumers, and the free movement of goods, services, capital and people offers major advantages. What is more, the EEA has also introduced new standards in areas such as environmental or consumer protection.
