How is the FMA linked internationally?
The Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority is an internationally integrated and recognised financial market supervisory authority and participates in all committees at European level: EBA, EIOPA, ESMA, ESRB and ESFS. The FMA is also represented in the relevant global committees, such as IOSCO, IAIS and NGFS. Since Liechtenstein joined the IMF in 2024, the FMA has taken on important tasks that are typically performed by the central bank in other countries. Due to its legal mandate to ensure financial stability, the FMA also works closely with central banks – in particular, of course, with the Swiss National Bank (SNB).
