How are foundations in Liechtenstein regulated?

Share

Public oversight is handled differently for charitable and private-benefit foundations. In Liechtenstein, charitable foundations are generally subject to supervision, while private-benefit foundations are not. In private-benefit foundations, internal monitoring is primarily the responsibility of the beneficiaries. However, the donor can modify this internal supervision in the statutes, for example by appointing a supervisory body, by reserving the right of control for himself by including a right of revocation, or by voluntarily submitting the private-benefit foundation to the supervision of the foundation supervisory authority.
